A second Porch is coming to north Charlotte
A gift of land and $1.8 million in early commitments mean a second drop-in center will open in spring 2027.
Lanternhouse will open a second drop-in center on North Tryon Street in spring 2027, after a local family donated a vacant former daycare building and the surrounding lot.
Nearly 40% of young adults who visit The Porch today travel more than an hour by bus. The north location is within a 15-minute walk of three major bus routes.
Early gifts and pledges total $1.8 million of the $3.2 million needed for renovation and the first two years of operations. Construction begins in January.
